Workshop on Design and Development of implementing a robust follow-up system and quality management system

Two officials from the Royal Audit Authority are participating in a workshop on design and development of implementing a robust follow-up system and quality management system. The workshop, being held from February 10-21 in Kathmandu, Nepal, is organized by INTOSAI Development Initiative (IDI) in collaboration with Asian Development Bank under the program “Sustainable Performance Audit Practices in Asia and Pacific.”

The first week of the workshop aims to strengthen the capacity of SAIs (Supreme Audit Institutions) in measuring values delivered by audit works.  As part this initiative, IDI is supporting six SAIs in developing and implementing a robust follow-up mechanism.

Recognizing that audit quality is essential for SAIs to achieve their strategic objectives and fulfill their mandates, the workshop also focuses on establishing a System of Audit Quality Management (SoAQM) in line with the requirements of the revised International Standards for Supreme Audit Institution 140Quality Management. This ensures that SAIs maintain high operational standards and deliver high-quality audit outputs and impacts.

Through this capacity-building initiative, the participating SAIs are expected to enhance their follow-up systems and implement a risk-based audit quality management (revised ISSAI 140), ultimately strengthening public sector auditing and accountability.

During the second week of the workshop, the participants will be designing induction and intermediate learning courses materials for performance auditors. These learning materials will be based on the ISSAI 150-based competency framework developed within this Initiative in 2024. The participants are expected to use the developed resources to train performance auditors in their respective SAIs.
