Auditor General participates in Leadership Forum in Bangkok, Thailand from 7-8 April

The Hon’ble Auditor General, accompanied by Deputy Auditor General, attended the Leadership Forum from 7-8 April. The event was organized by INTOSAI Development Initiative (IDI) in collaboration with Asian Development Bank, and hosted by State Audit Office of the Kingdom of Thailand.

The opening session was graced by Hon’ble Auditor General of State Audit Office of the Kingdom of Thailand, Mr Monthien Charoenpol.

The forum brought together leaders from six Supreme Audit Institutions with an aim to establish a common understanding and commitment for enhancing systems for professional competency development, audit quality management and robust follow up for performance audit impact. The forum discussed the critical importance of setting up a system of audit quality management, which is a game changer for SAIs to bolster public trust and credibility.  Since system of audit quality management is a paradigm shift from traditional quality control to overall quality management at the institution level, the forum deliberated the crucial role of leadership ensuring design and implementation of policies and procedures in accordance with the requirements of revised ISSAI 140. The leaders also discussed challenges and way-forward to implement competency framework, robust follow-up system, and system of audit quality management in their SAIs.

The Royal Audit Authority also had a sideline meeting with State Audit Office of the Kingdom of Thailand to discuss opportunities for collaboration in the area of use of Technologies including Artificial Intelligence in auditing. The event reinforced the importance of committed leadership in driving sustainable performance audit practices in SAIs.
